At times a bit general, but a good primer for a family that does not have boarding school experience. I particularly thought the advice for students and parents once attending was helpful. Wish I read this a year or more ago. Although I found it informative there were times I disagreed with the advice. In addition some parts were repetitive --the book needed better editing. I bought the Kindle version and had a $1 promo from Amazon. Worth $5, but perhaps not much more. As a grandparent trying to assist my daughter in making education choices for her children, I found this book exceptionally well written and informative. Mr. Mangravite's work is just what the title promises - an insider's guide - but it's also much more. It's a very smart, sensitive exploration of education in general. The author knows that what works for one kid won't work for all. Even if you ultimately decide that private school isn't right for you, Mr. Mangravite will have helped you to ask the right questions. As a former student, teacher, and parent of a private school student, and a very active alum, his perspective is balanced and thorough. Highly recommended.
